Modern DetroitStars Over DowntownTommy'sBlueprintLocation 1: For my first location I chose to photograph from the Cobo roof. I edited the picture in a style that is more modern, just like the Cobo building. I like this photo because of the light, the sky, and the shadows. You can also see bits of Canada and a few buildings across the river.
Location 2: My second location was looking up to some of the buildings off of the downtown street. It was cool to see the perspective. I really liked the view looking down the street. The edit I did was something kind of cool. I like the stars. Its almsot how it would look if there was no o-zone layer. Location 3: This was a small restaurant in downtown Detroit. I loved the old look to it with the bright colors. In editing I tried to make the bright colors pop more. I like the richer color it produced. This is one of my better pictures. Location 4: This location was of the skyline. I took this photo on top of cobo roof looking across at the skyline and the buildings peeking out over the top. I liked the clouds and the light colors. My edit emphasized this a lot. One of my favorites, the edit was inspired by a minimalistic design. Location 5: This was taken looking up at the buildings from the street. This was a cool picture to me because of how much of the giant building I was able to capture. The blueprint edit over top was perfect because the photo was primarily taken up by the single building.

Location 1: For my first location I went to the pond in the woods behind my house. I have been coming here since I was a kid. Me and my dad have always come out here as long as I can remember. We love to take my dog out here and play, and in the winter I LOVE to come out and play pond hockey. It is also very pretty and untouched by people for the most part so I thought it was a perfect place to take pictures.
Location 2: My second location was the paths behind my neighbors house. It is on the Knights of Columbus property. I thought the decaying old scrap metal would be a great element to add depth to my photos. I really like the shadows and the angles the scrap metal creates. The trees all around make it a great nature landscape. Location 3: For my next location I found anther spot on the Knights of Columbus property I felt was untouched. I photographed a few trees that were cut down and/or dying. The property had some trees removed years ago leaving tons of downed logs and trees. I thought pictures of the decaying trees would be a great thing to photograph. Location 4: My fourth location was looking over the valley on the property. There is a stream running right down the middle. It is a great angle looking across and being able to see the low point. It is really cool to be able to see elevation change in the pictures. I really liked this location. Location 5: The last location was the paths behind my house made by the deer over time. I thought this was a cool thing to photograph because it is a great example of nature. I used some trees in the frame to add good depth to the pictures and show distance. These are some of my favorite shots I took. Spark Plug: I chose to photograph a spark plug as one of my objects. The reason I chose a spark plug is that cars and racing have been a huge part of my life since I was a kid. That particular spark plug came from my go kart I race. I got this spark plug when I first started so it has some value to me making it a great object to photograph. The natural lighting I used to shoot this works very well. Lots of very nice shadows and even lighting throughout the whole object.
Lacrosse Ball: The second object I photographed was a lacrosse ball. I chose this because I played lacrosse my freshman year. It was a huge part of my life and I still enjoy the sport. Many of my current friends I made have been through lacrosse. I photographed this object in the same spot for the great lighting it provided and the non distracting background. Hockey Puck: The next object I photographed was a hockey puck. I love hockey an it is one of my favorite sports so I thought it would be a great object to photograph. Pond hockey is my favorite winter activity and my favorite part of the terrible Michigan winters. I love playing with my friends all winter at my pond and friends houses. This object was also photographed in the same location for lighting and backdrop. Golf Ball: My fourth object I photographed was one of my golf balls. I have played golf and found interest in the sport since I was a kid. This past year I picked back up the sport more seriously. I am going to play for skyline this upcoming season making t a huge part of my extra curricular life. I have many friends who play as well. This was photographed in the same location as the other objects as well. Golf Club: I photographed my favorite golf club for my last object. This golf club was very expensive and I saved for it to buy it. I play very well with it. I’m very good at short game in golf and this club is my favorite short game club I have. I birdied my first hole with a shot with this club adding even more value to it for me. I used my blue wall as a back drop because I like the contrast in silver and the dark blue it creates. |
